9.  If he is unconscious, hold the mouth open with a tongue depressor padded with gauze.
                   10. .Wait at last ten minutes after the patient has eaten to prevent nausea
                   11. Do not go for back on the patient’s tongue as it may gag him.
                   12. Mouth  care should be done in the morning, at night, and after each male if possible
                   13. Chart the Procedure, time, and observation.

                       4.6 Care of dentures
                   1.  Assist patient to remove dentures
                   2.  Place dentures in denture cop or clean emesis basin, take to sink, and wash thoroughly
                       using the patient's brush, or applicators.
                   3.  Rinse thoroughly
                   4.  Place in a clean basin or denture cup and return to the bedside.
                   5.  Assist the patient to rinse with mouth wash solution before dentures are replaced.
                   6.  Use tissue paper to handle dentures and assist as necessary to insert into the mouth.



                  4.7 Offer and care of bedpans and urinals
                       Equipment
                   1.  Bedpan or urinal and cover
                   2.  Toilet paper
                   3.  Basin with soap and water may not be necessary

                       Procedure
                   1.  Dry the outer part of the bedpan and carry to the bedside and place it on the chair.
                   2.  Screen bed.
                   3.  Fold the cover of the bedpan and hang it over the side frame of the bed.
                   4.  Turn back covers at the side. Place a free hand under the patient's buttocks and have
                       him flex knees and help in lifting his body, with the other hand adjust the bedpan under
                       him.
                   5.  Place tissue paper and be sure the patient can reach the bell.
                   6.  Be ready to remove the bedpan when the patient calls. If he is not able to care for
                       himself, give necessary care, leave him clean and dry.
                   7.  Arrange to bed neatly.
                   8.  Drawback screens, and carry bedpan or urinal to the utility room.
                   9.  To hand urinal, elevate bed clothes slightly at the side of the bed.
                   10. Note output if urine is to be measure. Proceed as indicated, collect specimen if ordered.
                   11. Observe the color of stool, constituency, amount; the color of urine, whether clear or
                       cloudy.
                   12. Report anything unusual.
