Transmission axle-transmission axle assembly
• The radial run-out of the transmission
axle shall be within the limit range
after replacing with a new flange of
main reducing gear. (Refer to “chapter
25 rear axle-rear axle assembly,
on-vehicle inspection”)
• Inspect whether the transmission system
vibrates during the driving test. If it still
vibrates, balance the transmission axle.
3. Balance the transmission axle
(a). Install one or two hoops at the rear end of
the transmission axle.
• Divide the circumferential surface of the
rear end into nearly four equal parts and
clamp one of them with the hoop.
• Inspect whether it vibrates during the
driving test and change the direction of
the hoop to ensure the position that can
produce minimum vibration. Improve
the vibration of the two adjacent
positions and make the vibration of
them nearly the same and then place
the hoop in the middle of the two
positions.
(b). If vibration still exists, place one more
33 hoop at the same position and see if
vibration exists in the driving test.
• If the vibration is not improved, rotate
the hoop to the opposite direction and
be equidistant with the minimum
position of the vibration ensured
before. Separate the two hoops for
about 10 cm and inspect whether
vibration exists by driving test.
• Increase the space between the two
hoops and repeat the steps above until
finding the best position or the
acceptable level of the vibration
reduced.
