Diagnostic Procedure

1. Checking compressor belt

(a) Check compressor belt and its tension.
Are check results normal?
Yes > Go to step 2.
No > Replace belt or adjust its tension.

2. Checking electromagnetic clutch
(a) Connect compressor positive pole with battery positive pole and its negative pole with body
ground.
04 (b) Check if the electromagnetic clutch picks up.
Is check result normal?
Yes > Go to step 3.
No > Replace compressor assembly.
3. Checking A/C switch

(a) Remove A/C switch (refer to “Chapter 73 Instrument Panel/Combination Meter/Cigarette
Lighter-Instrument Panel, Replacement").
(b) Check A/C switch.
Standard values:

Use a multimeter Specified
Condition
to connect pins value
OFF 4 - 6 > 1 MΩ

ON 4 - 6 ≤ 2 Ω

Are check results normal?
Yes > Go to step 4.
No > Replace A/C switch.
