Front Axle-Front Wheel Alignment
Front Wheel Alignment
Adjustment
1. Preparations for checking front wheel alignment
(a) Park your vehicle.
• Be sure to keep your vehicle idle and park it on a firm and flat road.
(b) Check wheel and tire assembly.
• Check tire pressure and adjust as needed. (Reference “Chapter 23 Wheels and
Tires-Wheel and Tire Assembly, On-Vehicle Inspection”.)
• Check tire wear. (Reference “Chapter 23 Wheels and Tires-Wheel and Tire Assembly,
On-Vehicle Inspection”.)
• Check rim deformation.
(c) Check frame.
• Check frame for distortion or bending.
(d) Check front axle.
24 • Check front axle and ensure that its axis is normal to vehicle heading.
2. Checking camber angle, and knuckle pin caster angle and inclination angle
(a) Park your vehicle and make heights of rear wheel and turning angle gauge equal.
(b) Right steering wheel to set front wheel
straight ahead.
(c) Check tire pressure. (Reference “Chapter
23 Wheels and Tires-Wheel and Tire
Assembly, On-Vehicle Inspection”.)
(d) Position front wheel to center of turning
angle gauge dial slowly, and adjust
reading of the gauge to “zero”.
(e) Remove front wheel hub cap, and install
a front wheel alignment meter onto rim
horizontally.
