Water Knot

Once the favorite with anglers, this knot was mentioned in Treatyse of Fyshing
wyth an Angle by Dame Juiana Berners, Prioress of Sopwell, printed in 1496.

The water knot is another good knot for joining fine lines together. It, too, has
an overhand at its heart. In the water knot, one overhand knot is followed

round by the other overhand knot. Make sure that the lines lie neat and
evenly. Today this knot is the correct knot for tying together the
ends of the strong woven tape used by climbers, who often
                                                                                                               'V' *•*"
call this knot the tape knot.
