The emergence of the museum park, representing the new generation of parks could provide not
only main features of scenery, resting and children's playing, but also multiple functions such
as displaying education, performances, and gatherings. The public were paying more and more
attention to the practical use value of the urban park space. Using the space inside the park
to engage in various outdoor activities was no longer limited to more static activities such as
viewing and rest.
Citizens’ Awareness of Park Is Gradually Sprouting
As the public's demand for park and green space increased, citizens began to pay attention to
the construction of the park and made comments. They even formed local groups, setting the
first community referendum case in Taipei. It revealed that the development of the park and
green space in Taipei no longer only considered the policy-oriented development, but also
gradually considered the needs of the community and the life of the citizens.
The most representative one is nothing more than the community action of Yongkang Park in
1995. At that time, Yongkang Park caused the community residents to jointly rescue Yongkang
Park due to the need to ‘renovate the park for a city planning road extension project on the east
side of the park, and then successfully saved old trees in the park. It also became a model park
for tree protection and community citizens’ awareness in Taipei.
The construction plan for the 7th Park (now Daan Forest Park) and the 14th and 15th large
parks (this Linsen Park and Recreation Park) planned during the Japanese occupation period
was already parks reservations in the Japanese occupation era. After the break of World War II,
it was temporarily put on hold. After the recovery, the Nationalist government retreated to
