Local Sources of Monitoring Data
3.8 Air quality monitoring is considered an appropriate source of data for the
purposes of describing baseline air quality. At the time of writing, the most

recent ASR released by SBC included 2018 data.
Automatic Monitoring
NO2
3.9 SBC currently undertakes automatic (continuous) monitoring of NO2 at two
locations across the borough, with the closest continuous monitoring location
being ZW6, which is located on Newington High Street (approximately 2km
west of the Key Street/Keycol Hill roundabout).
3.10 The most recent available data from the monitor is included in Table 3.4.

3.11 The data in Table 3.4 show that annual mean NO2 concentrations at automatic

monitor ZW6 were consistently below the 40μg.m AQS by 27.2%, in 2018.
PM10 and PM2.5
3.12 SBC also undertakes automatic (continuous) monitoring of PM10 in
Sittingbourne and Ospringe. SBC do not currently monitor PM2.5.
3.13 The most recent available data from the monitor is included in Table 3.5.
