certificated at Level 3 to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours resulting in enhanced management
outcomes, successful achievement of business drivers and continuous professional development in line with your
career goals.
As a team leader/supervisor in a first line management role, with operational/project responsibilities or
responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome you will develop your management

Your responsibilities are likely to include supporting, managing and developing team members, managing
projects, planning and monitoring workloads and resources, delivering operational plans, resolving problems,
and building relationships internally and externally. Throughout your qualification you will be assessed on your
knowledge, skills and behaviours. Assessments will take the following formats:
PROFESSIONAL DISCUSSION
Professional Discussion is a two way conversation between the Trainer and the Learner. It can be used to provide
evidence for any level of qualification. Its suitability can depend on the communication skills of the learner and the
familiarity of the Trainer with this approach.
OBSERVATION
Observation by a trainer is a key piece of evidence and is a prime example of Performance Evidence.
It is important that the trainer records what they see. Observation is the most valid and reliable form of assessment –
you are seeing the evidence therefore it is authentic and current.
QUESTIONING
Questioning complements Observation, Professional Discussion and Work Product. Questions are used to:
• Establish a learner’s knowledge, skill and behaviours
• Clarify something
• Find out how the learner would have dealt with an unforeseen event
