Every citizen must be protected
from unsafe processed food
products. Therefore, the rapid
development of processed
products produced by micro,
small, and medium enterprises
(MSMEs) needs to be supported
by strengthening the quality and
safety guarantees of the products
that are produced. Every
processed food product must
meet the requirements for
circulation permits before being
circulated in the wider
community.
The existence of this circulation
permit could be one way to
ensure the safety, quality, and
nutrition of processed food
products that are distributed.
However, the convoluted
requirements and lengthy processes often deter entrepreneurs, especially those in micro, small, and
medium-sized businesses, from obtaining circulation permits for their products.
That was what initially made Dinar (34) not immediately obtain a distribution permit for the processed
mango podang food product that she produced. As an MSME player in Kediri, East Java, concerns about
complex requirements and high costs for obtaining a distribution permit from the Food and Drug
Supervisory Agency (BPOM) made her feel unnecessary to have a permit for her product.
