Zakat is not imposed on fixed assets such as buildings,
houses and land except when they are traded or
generating revenue through various instruments.
Zakat Rate
2.5% on properties that met the requirements for zakat.
Collection and Distribution
“Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed
to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been
(recently) reconciled (to Truth); for those in bondage and in
debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer: (thus is it)
ordained by Allah and Allah is full of knowledge and
wisdom.”
At-Taubah: Verse 60
In the Federal Territory, zakat must be paid to the Zakat
Collection Centre-MAIWP (Pusat Pungutan Zakat-MAIWP),
while the Federal Baitulmal MAIWP carries out zakat
distribution programmes for those eligible for zakat (asnaf).
