Rewards for Paying Zakat
Allah (SWT) said:
“Those who believe, and do deeds of righteousness, and
establish regular prayers and regular charity, will have their
reward with their Lord: on them shall be no fear nor shall
they grieve.”
Al Baqarah: Verse 277
In another verse Allah said:
“The parable of those who spend their wealth in the way of
Allah is that of a grain of corn: it groweth seven ears, and
each ear hath a hundred grains. Allah giveth manifold
increase to whom He pleaseth; and Allah careth for all and
He knoweth all things.”
Al Baqarah: Verse 261
The Virtue of Zakat
The wisdom of Allah (SWT) in enjoining zakat
encompasses:
• Distributing wealth from the rich to the less fortunate,
based on the Islamic socio-economic system
• Purifying the soul of the zakat payer from reprehensible
traits (mazmumah)
“Alms are for the poor and the needy, and those employed • Cleansing and blessing the property of zakat payers
to administer the (funds); for those whose hearts have been • Inculcating gratitude for the blessings endowed by
(recently) reconciled (to Truth); for those in bondage and in Allah (SWT) to the rich
debt; in the cause of Allah; and for the wayfarer: (thus is it)
ordained by Allah and Allah is full of knowledge and • Reducing jealousy among poor people
