Unplanned Absence and Lateness (cont’d)
How much is too much?
► Lateness: 5-10 incidents of lateness in 12 months; 4 or
more in a month;
► Unplanned Absence: 6 or more days absent; 3 or more
occurrences of 2 or more days; or combination totaling 6
days in a 12-month period.
EXCEPTIONS: FMLA, PFL, ADA

Unplanned Absence and Lateness
Docking (NON EXEMPT ONLY): First 6 minutes are grace
period.
Thereafter for each 6-minute interval, for lateness > 7
minutes (6 minutes = dock .10/hr in Workbrain)
Look for Patterns:
ON TIME = at desk, ready to work by start of shift
SICK CALL = must call Supervisor within 30 min. of start time
DON’T ASK – “What’s wrong with you?”
DO ASK – Appointments scheduled? Important paperwork on
desk? When expect to return?
