7.1.1.1 Conditional clearance

A conditional clearance is made by the station, after the call sign, starting by

stating the condition, after which the clearance is stated,

e.g.:

➢ O-TZ behind departing DC 9 line up RWY 29 behind and

wait.

Reading back such a message must be done in the same order.

That is:

➢ Behind departing DC 9 lining up RWY 29 behind and wait

O-TZ.

If you were to start the reading back with “Lining up RWY 29” by mistake, the

pilot of the DC 9 would immediately slam on the brakes.

An aeronautical station’s acknowledgement of an aircraft is done by stating the

aircraft’s call sign, followed if necessary by the aeronautical station’s call sign,
e.g. OTZ or OTZ Herning Radio.

When giving a conditional clearance, the traffic involved in the clearance must

have visual contact with each other. The conditional clearance may only relate
to a single movement.

7.2 A flight from EKRK to EKVJ

In the following section we will take as our starting point a flight from EKRK to
EKVJ.

We will fly in a Cessna 172, OY-CTZ, with 3 persons on board and endurance for
a 3-hour flight.

The flight route is: EKRK → VFR report point Borup → Røsnæs → Vesborg →

Hjarnø → Brande → VFR report point Skjern West → EKVJ.
