Palm. After some turns, practice repelling an enemy's rear attack
from this posture. Toe-in your right foot near your left foot as your
right hand circles above your head and your left circles near your
right side (Figs. 393-394). At the same time swing your upper torso
leftward. Stand on your right foot and continue circling your right
M. STANDING PALM POSTURE (LI CHANG)
With your left arm in the center, walk the counterclockwise circle
(Fig. 389). Make the Single Change. Following this, as you swing
to the right with your right foot ahead, separate your arms and
twist your elbows down. Your palms are twisted so that the palms
are up (as if holding two bowls of water) and are at the level of
your mouth, directionally aligned to your shoulders. Your eyes gaze
at a point midway between your two hands (Figs. 390-392 show
the posture from three different vantages). Let your shoulders
droop. Walk a while like this and then make the Single Change,
swinging back and walking counterclockwise with the Standing
