Certification Process
change to the number of audit days may be required
due to changes that happen within the company (i.e.:
increase/decrease in employee count or number of
locations or complexity of the business, etc.) after the
quote is accepted. Once an agreement is reached
and an application and contract are signed and
accepted, the CB will schedule the first audit (stage 1).
The Certification Process consists of two stages:
Stage 1 includes:
Practice (or Pre) Assessment (Optional) – Just as
the name implies, it is an “unofficial” audit that
gives the company an opportunity to better
understand the auditing process and prepare for
the “official” Registration Assessment.
Documented Information Review (off-site) –
Companies are required to document their
management system in accordance with the
applicable standard or with any other special
specifications. During this review, the auditor
reviews the documented information to ensure they
are complete and in conformance with the
requirements; and, provides a report of any issues
and/or comments that need to be addressed.
Readiness Visit – The auditor performs an on-site
visit with the customer to review any issues/
comments uncovered in the document review, and
to verify other documentation and records exist to
support the company’s management system.
