Certification Process

So what specifically does an auditor look for during an
audit? The auditor(s) looks for proof that effective
processes are in place that are in conformance to the
requirements of the standard. The requirements (or
rules) for the standard are found in the applicable
standards document. For example, ISO 9001
     document is Quality Management System
     Requirements.

These requirements are spelled out in sections, also
known as clauses and sub-clauses. The requirements
     address the entire organization. Industry-specific
standards, like aerospace and automotive, include
requirements that are relevant to that industry.

ISO 9001:2015 includes the following ten sections.
The specific focus of the actual audit for ISO
9001:2015 is on clauses four through eight. During
the audit, the auditor looks for objective evidence that
the processes and system are effective and meet
     these requirements:

     1. Scope – Includes general and application.
     2. Normative references – Indispensable documents
     3. Terms and Definitions
     4. Context of the Organization – Includes
        commitment, customer focus, quality policy,
        planning, responsibility, authority, communication
        and management review.
     5. Leadership – Defines top management’s role.
