Certification Process
A minor non-conformance is any other non-
conformance that is an isolated occurrence and is
normally easily corrected and verified.
An opportunity for improvement (OFI) is neither a
major nor minor non-conformance. It documents
items that may help a customer improve.
Based upon the Registration Assessment, the lead
auditor will make a recommendation on whether to
certify the company, withhold certification until the
non-conformance(s) have been resolved or to not
certify the customer. A report is generated to
document this audit and provided to the company.
The Registration Grant Authority at the CB reviews
the auditor’s report, recommendations and any closed
NCRs and makes the final determination on granting
certification.
Once a company is certified, surveillance audits are
conducted on-site every six, nine or twelve months,
(as quoted) depending upon the maturity and strength
of the company’s management system. A report is
generated to document this audit and provided to the
company.
Most standards require a full recertification audit
every three years. Some standards dictate a shorter
cycle. The flowchart on the following page provides a
graphical look at EAGLE’s certification process.
