Glossary of Terms
Audit Plan
A description of the activities and arrangements for an
audit.
Audit Scope
The extent and boundaries of an audit.
Audit Team
One or more auditors conducting an audit, supported
if needed by technical experts.
Auditor
A person with a demonstrated personal attributes and
competence to conduct an audit on behalf of a
certification body.
Capability
The ability of an organization, system or process to
realize a product that will fulfill the requirements for
that product.
Certification
Standards have specific requirements that a company
must meet. Accredited third-party certification bodies,
like EAGLE, audit companies to validate they are in
conformance with the standard and that their system
is effective and robust. Once approved, an official
accredited certificate (“certification”) is issued.
Certification Body (CB) (also known as Registrar)
An entity that is authorized to certify its suppliers
