Glossary of Terms
     Design and Development
     A  process  (or  a  set  of  processes)  that  transforms
     requirements  (inputs)  into  characteristics  or  into  the
     specification  (outputs)  of  a  product,  process  or
     system.

     Document
     Information and its supporting medium. Examples of a
     document  include  a  record,  specification,  procedure
     document, drawing,  report  or  standard.  The  medium
     can  be  paper,  magnetic,  electronic  or  optical
     computer  disc,  photograph  or  master  sample,  or  a
     combination thereof.

     Documented Information
     Information  that  is  controlled  and  maintained  by  an
     organization in any format or media; i.e. quality policy,
     procedures, and records.

     Effectiveness
     The  extent  to  which  planned  activities  are  realized
     and planned results achieved.

     First-Party Audits
     Internal  audits  to  evaluate  internal  processes,
     procedures and products. This  undertaking is by the
     company  itself  and  involves  no  one  else.  Reports
     generated  by  a  first-party  audit  are  for  internal  use
     only.
