Oversight Body (also known as Accreditation
Body)
An independent agency having jurisdiction to formally
recognize the competence of a certification body to
provide certification services.
Peer Review
Governing body for the accreditation body, made up
of other accreditation bodies.
Preventive Action
The action to eliminate the cause of a potential
nonconformity or other undesirable potential situation.
Procedure
A specified way to carry out an activity or process.
Process
A set of interrelated and interacting activities which
transforms inputs into outputs.
Process Approach
A management strategy. Companies that use a
process approach manage the processes that make
up their organization, the interaction between these
