Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000
FSSC 22000 was approved in February of 2010 by
GFSI. FSSC is the combination of ISO 22000,
sector-specific PRPs such as ISO 22002-1 (food
      manufacturing) and FSSC 22000 additional
      requirements

      ISO 22000 is a globally-accepted food safety
management system that focuses on ensuring that
foods in the food chain do not cause adverse effects
on humans. It provides a system to help:
      • Control and manage the safety of food
      • Verify and validate the system is effective
      • Improve conformance to regulatory standards
      • Demonstrate due diligence by processors
      • Provide confidence to consumers on product
         safety
      • Manage the globalization of food (import and
         export)

It is a preventive and HACCP-based system that
is adaptable to any size of business. Its systematic
approach provides standards and guidelines for
food safety and continuously identifies areas for
improvement. Also, ISO 22000 is auditable and
provides verification and validation of the system.
