Satellite Fire Station
The City of Edwardsville hired FGM to design a new Satellite Fire Station on the Southern Illinois
University Edwardsville Campus. The 8,300 SF building provides fire service to a growing college
community. While providing an external architectural expression that complements the existing
campus buildings, the satellite station houses several apparatus in the bays, bunk rooms and a
day room for the firefighters. The station was constructed for just under $2,900,000.
FGM was hired to redesign the Glen Carbon Police Department’s PSAP (Public Safety Answering
Point), which has outgrown its space. The $340,000 expansion of the space is a multi-jurisdictional
effort with several local agencies to accommodate Madison County’s PSAP consolidation effort.
Expanding dispatch to four stations, providing new dispatch equipment, restroom and a bullet
resistant glass protected lobby enhancing face-to-face contact with the public in the lobby
were accomplished with this project.
