DO NOT BE A JACK OF ALL TRADES
Do not be everything goes, do not be Jack of all trades! Do not be follower of every tide
and turn, find your own stream, and navigate your own course. Most times you will be
tempted to try out everything, you will be pushed to have a taste of every business That is
in vogue, or apply for any job you see out there. No! That is not right. Do not let the
desire for a quick fix or the curiosity to start something new drive you to an undesirable
end. Do not run after everything, make your choice carefully. Give priority to career
development, fulfilment of your life’s purpose and preservation of your happiness. Focus
on one thing you want to do and do it well. Do not be the jack of all trades and master of
none.
Your first goal should be a commitment to developing your expertise. Committing to
career advancement, not just wander between jobs and trades. Becoming an authority, a
consultant, or an expert in your line of trade is a goal you should consider pursuing. It

your line of trade and become a voice; a force to reckon with, rather than going

you fit into it. Find what brings you joy and satisfaction, go for it, and stay at it. Find
where there are good prospects and career development, stick to it. Consistency and
persistence will make you the master of your art, jumping everywhere is like chasing
shadows. Frequently changing career, trying out every art and trade will not make you an
expert, it is like the proverbial rolling stone which gathers no moss. Do not live your
beautiful life like that. Do not be inconsistent, it shows lack of purpose and tenacity.
Know what you want in a job and why you are there. That is what will sustain you; that is
your staying power. You do not have to taste every job or try out every career before you
know what you want. You do not have to visit every nest before finding a place of rest.
Define your taste and what you want from the onset. Go for it and stay at it. Know what
you stand for as far as jobs are concerned. If you do not stand for something, you will fall
for everything that comes your way. Know what you want in a job and why you want it. If
