Truth to Teach (Source)
Genesis 1 & 2 Creation
Colossians 1:16 ‘For by him all things were created, things in heaven and on
earth, visible and invisible….’
God is living and is full of life, which he has expressed on earth by creating
living plants, animals and people. He maintains life on earth through his
word.
All of creation can be categorised as living, non-living or once-living.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Ask the children what the connection is between a plant, a child and insect.
Establish that both are alive/ living/ have life and that they have been
created by the Living God.
2. As a bridging exercise ask some of the following questions to establish what
the children understand and what they do not:-
• What are living things?
• How do you know if something is alive?
• Where do you find life?
Explain that the project will explore what life is whether you are a jellyfish,
a cactus or an infant at school!
3. Dramatise the creation of plants and animals using the first chapter of
Genesis. Draw out the personal attention God gave to the process and how
he did it.
• Did he enjoy doing it?
• Was he pleased with what he had made?
