Page 9 - MOVING THROUGH AIR
P. 9
John 20:22 ‘And with that he (Jesus) breathed on them and said, “Receive the
Holy Spirit.”’
God breathed his life into man.
The Holy Spirit is the Breath of God, who can fill us so that we can live to the
full. He never runs out.
People and animals breathe in oxygen from the air, and breathe out a waste
gas –carbon dioxide. Plants breathe in the carbon dioxide and breathe out
oxygen, and so the supply of oxygen is replenished.
God created economically.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review the previous lessons.
2. Ask the children about what we breathe in, and establish the fact that we
need oxygen from the air to help us get energy from our food. Without
oxygen we could not live which is why no one lives on the moon!
3. Consider what happens to a burning candle when you put a glass over it and
then consider what happens when you put a larger glass bowl over it. The
more oxygen there is the longer it burns but when there is no more left, it
cannot burn. Can anyone imagine what could happen on the earth if God did
not keep making more oxygen for us?
4. God thought ahead and created oxygen makers - plants. Plants make oxygen
at the same time that they make sugar and they do this using the part of the
air that we breathe out!
Plants need our waste gas and we need their waste gas… this is creation
working together! Illustrate this on the blackboard or dramatically using
children and labels for oxygen and waste gas – carbon dioxide.
5. God has designed things to work better together. If we want to work well as
a class whose help do we need? The Holy Spirit is called the Breath of God
and he can change us and help us to work peacefully with each other.
