PERSONAL RESEARCH

 To give the children opportunity to select one or more pioneers to conduct their own research.

        Way to Work (Means)

            1. Review the previous lessons.

            2. Remind the children of the first lesson and the range of jobs held by pioneers.

            3. Explain that they are to select one or more of these to write/illustrate an article just as a
                journalist may do.

If any children are musical they may like to choose a musician, if scientific they could select
a scientist, etc. There are many explorers and inventors to choose from.

            4. The children could either produce a newspaper, a wall display or a computer file of
information. Posture them as to the standard expected and the amount of work.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

            1. The children should have used a variety of resources to gather information and had further
experience in presenting it for a chosen audience.

            2. They will also have learnt more about one or more specific pioneers.

Acts 17:26-28 ‘From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole
earth; and he determined the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would
seek him and perhaps reach out for him, though he is not far from each one of us. For in him live,
        move and have our being.’

Genesis 1:28 ‘God said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue
it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves
          along the ground.”’
