5. The children could either write an account of the history of the School from what they have
heard or they could complete the worksheet and write a shorter account. Some may like to
write up an interview with a past teacher or pupil.

             6. End by thanking God for our School and for the pioneers who had faith to open it and for
the pioneering parents who sent their children to it.

        Learning for Life (Fulfilment)

             1. The children will see that a few pioneers working together can make a difference to other
                  people’s lives, even for generations.

             2. The children will hopefully have a sense of gratitude to God for prompting people to open

 Patrick, Columba, Augustine and Aidan were some of the early Christian pioneers

        Way to Work (Means)

            1. Review previous lessons, reminding the children of the qualities of a pioneer.

            2. Ask the children if they know how the gospel came to Britain. Explain that in the
next two lessons we will be discovering how it occurred.

            3. Show a map of Israel noting its proximity to Asia, Africa and Europe. Read and discuss the
above verses about the disciples being sent out to spread the gospel.

            4. Explain that no-one is really certain how Christianity first came to Britain as there is a
scarcity of documentary material until the fifth century. Writings suggest that Christianity
