INSTRUCTIONS CAN BE LIFE-SAVING
Truth to Teach (Source)
Heart concepts: Forgiveness-Reconciliation, Great Commission
God, in his gracious love for us, has made a way for us to be forgiven and
brought near to him, as one of his children. This salvation becomes ours as
we act on God’s instructions to repent and believe.
Some instructions are so important that they are life-saving.
Way to Work (Means)
1. Review previous lessons.
2. Encourage the children to think back to the time when the people of Israel
were slaves in Egypt. God had seen their miserable lives and heard their cries
to be rescued and he had a plan to lead them out of Egypt and into a land
where they would be free. However the process of leaving Egypt was not
straightforward, because Pharaoh kept saying “No!” Finally God told Moses
and Aaron to give some special instructions to the people of Israel. Read
them in Exodus 12:1-11.
3. Ask the children to consider what would have happened if the people had not
followed these instructions. These instructions were life-saving.
4. Let them think of any other instructions which could be described as life-
saving. This would be a good opportunity to review various safety
instructions. Obviously select what is appropriate and relevant to your class.
