            1.      Key events in his life


                   Birth:          Visit of an angel to Manoah and his wife
                                   Promise of a child
                                   Conditions laid down; eat no unclean thing
                                   Boy to be a Nazarite, set apart from birth

                                   To begin the deliverance of Israel from the Philistines
                                   Sacrifice made to the Lord, angel ascended in flame


                    Marriage:     Chose Philistine woman
                                  Used by God to confront Philistines
                                  Tore lion apart with bare hands
                                  Ate honey from carcass
                                  Wife given to friend


                    Vengeance:  Burned Philistines’ corn, they burned his wife and her father
                                  Slaughtered many Philistines
                                  Men of Judah tied him up and handed him to Philistines

                                  Broke free of ropes by God’s power
                                  Killed thousand men with donkey’s jaw bone

                    Delilah:      Asked secret of Samson’s strength
                                  Samson tricked her three times then told truth

                                  Shaved his head and lost his strength
                                  Eyes gouged out and went to prison
                                  Hair began to grow


                    Death:        Leaned on temple pillars
                                  Asked God for strength
