FOCUS ON MAMMALS AS PETS

Truth to Teach

 To observe and learn more about mammals as pets

 To discuss the importance of caring properly for our pets

Way to Work

1. Review the previous lessons

2. Take time to observe and discuss the pets brought into school under the headings given in
Week 3. Talk about the way in which they are cared for by their owners.
Refer briefly to guide dogs for the blind and dogs for deaf people. Consider other mammals
which are useful to us.

3. Let the children share some of their research on mammals so far.

4. Suggest that each child selects two or three pets to study using the headings from last
week.

5. Gather at the end of the lesson to thank God for our pets and to share work completed in the
lesson.

Learning for Life

Hopefully, the pupils will see God’s wisdom in creating animals which can be tamed so that we can
enjoy them even more, but also our responsibility to care for them appropriately.
