Science Y3/Y4 – God’s amazing creatures – week 5

                                                FOCUS ON REPTILES

        Truth to Teach

Proverbs 30:28 ‘….a lizard can be caught in the hand, yet it is found in kings’ palaces.’

 To learn to identify reptiles by their characteristics

 To look at the habitats of reptiles

        Way to Work

        1. Review the previous lessons, possibly as a quiz between two teams.

        2. Review the characteristics of reptiles and let the children think of examples of reptiles.

        3. Categorise the reptiles into four groups:
                    Snakes
                    Turtles, tortoises
                    Alligators, crocodiles
                    Lizards

        4. Discuss the meaning behind the above verse – small yet wise. Ask the children how we can
               learn from such creatures.

        5. Consider the habitats of reptiles, their similarities and differences.

        6. Let the children draw and label one reptile from each of the four groups.

        7. Review the lesson and show illustrations.

        Learning for Life

The children will have consolidated the characteristics of reptiles and should be able to identify a

range of reptiles. They will appreciate that God wants us to learn from the way in which small
        creatures live.
