               1. Abstract

Environmental pollution due to the high consumption of plastic waste is currently

considered as one of the biggest concerns since its consumption rate is increasing

exponentially over time. To find an effective solution to reduce the consumption

rate of plastics, our team performed a survey on the public's preference on the

type of countermeasure towards the high consumption rate of plastics. Based on

the analysis of the survey, we examined the current government's policies of Korea
and Singapore, and conducted research on what would be the most ideal way to

reduce plastics. In the process, our team also interviewed some of the teachers in
SKIS to get advice on the topic. Through this paper, our team’s final aim is not only

to suggest an effective countermeasure to the consumption of plastics, but also to
raise awareness on this issue and instill valuable knowledge to the readers.

               2. Introduction

Environmental pollution due to plastic waste is considered as one of the biggest

environmental concerns since the exponential increase in the rate of single-plastic

production is far exceeding our ability to eliminate them. Plastic waste issue has

become increasingly prominent across the world, especially Asia and Africa, where

the majority of the nations are categorized as developing countries and have little

to no resources efficient enough to manage the accumulated waste. However,

                                                                                                      122
