6. Conclusion
Living in the plastic age, our research team and majority of the public agreed
that plastic is the most fatal cause of environmental pollution and felt that it is
essential to reduce its consumption. Like this, the growing number of people who
are aware of this seriousness is definitely good beginning of a change for our
environment. So, our team conducted research on what would be the most ideal
way to reduce plastic, and we carried out surveys of students in Singapore Korean
International School and also interviews with teachers in Singapore Korean
International School throughout the project. As a result, we concluded that
regulation on the use of plastics at an industrial level would be the most ideal
method, as shown in survey result. Armed with this outcome, our research team
believes that reducing the production of plastic products at the industrial level will
reduce the amount of plastic products that can be consumed in the market, and
consequently consumers will naturally reduce their plastic consumption. However,
it would not be possible for the producers to solve the fundamental problem of
plastics simply by reducing or replacing the amount of plastic in the market. In
company with regulations on producing plastics, consumers should strive to break
away from the consumption culture which people use and just throw away. It may
not be easy to change one’s habits since plastics have already become used to
people’s daily life, but they should not forget the perception that small practices
of individuals can bring great changes to our planet. Together with individual’s
small efforts to reduce plastic consumption and regulation from industrial level,
Plastic on earth will gradually diminish, and this will be the key to solve the
fundamental problem of plastic.
