ISSUE 5 | MAR 2021
Dear Parents,
What a term this has been! It feels like a long time ago that we heard the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday 4th January that schools would not be opening as had been planned. It was such a disappointment but the Abberley community were brilliant. Children, parents and staff rose to the challenge and we quickly took to a very full Distance Learning Programme. There were difficulties along the way for us all, but it went as smoothly as we could have hoped. Again, thank you for your patience and support during what has been a testing time.
It was a joy to have our pupils back for the final few weeks of term and we’re just sorry that it wasn’t for longer. We made the most of our time back together. It was wonderful to teach face-to-face again, our Saturday enrichment programme for our Prep children was launched with huge success and we saw a fantastic surge in the numbers of children choosing to board with us. I have no doubt that boarding next term will be very popular. It is a fantastic experience and I would urge you to contact Mr Dunham, our Head of Boarding, if you would like your child to start boarding or to increase the nights that they are with us. toby.dunham@abberleyhall.co.uk.
End of term reports should now be with you and I was delighted to read all the glowing feedback. Your children really ‘did themselves proud’ despite the challenges they faced. Details of our Saturday enrichment
programme, ‘Discover’, are now in place and all information will be with you soon so that you can have a think about what choices you and your children would like to make for the Summer term. Our Evening Activity options will also be available very soon and we are aware that activities may impact on which nights you would like your children to board.
We can’t wait for the start of the Summer term and we plan to do as much as we are allowed to do. Our Summer Term Calendar is available on the website (click here) although we ask you all to bear with us - things could change as Covid guidance unfolds. Our calendar will be updated regularly so please do keep checking it. I wish you all a very happy Easter and I look forward to seeing you again at the start of what I hope will be an extremely positive, action-packed and fun-filled Summer term.
Best wishes,
Jonnie Besley
