reaching 274,419 people with an average population growth rate of 1.18 per year.
Using the Census of Residents (SP) 2020 data as a case study.
When we predict the growth of food security items, including rice, it is possible
to see the contrast between the need for food with the existing population and the need
for food in the future. This realization is made possible by the fact that we are aware
of the rate of population increase. Given that the population of Pinrang is increasing at
a rate of 1.18 per cent annually, this significantly impacts the realization of the vision
of transforming Pinrang into a national rice barn, which will ensure the availability of
labour in the years to come. As a result of the population increase exceeding 1.18 per
cent, it will function as the most significant food supply hub in Indonesia, allowing it to
fulfil the requirements of agricultural employment.
The utilization of production inputs is one of the most important aspects
determining the success level in managing rice cultivation. Inputs for production will be
used in the most efficient manner possible, yielding the highest possible production
level and reasonably high profitability for farmers. Numerous people are aware of the
dosage that is recommended for the use of production inputs like fertilization. Because
various farmers have varying degrees of comprehension, the prescribed dose is not
always given by all farmers. Farmers in an area ranging from 0.50-1.0 ha (with an
average of 0.75 ha per farmer) engage in rice farming in various ways, according to
the research findings (Raksun, 2016). The farmers may utilize accessible kinds from
their harvests, seeds from local governments, or varieties that have been used
constantly for several years. These variances can be attributed to several factors.
One hundred eight villages or wards comprise the administrative region of
Pinrang Regency, which has a total area of 1,961.77 square kilometres. There are 12
districts and 108 villages or wards. Lem-bang District has the largest area, being
733.09 square kilometres. According to Bappelitbanda (Bappelitbanda Pinrang, 2021),
the social life of the people in Pinrang Regency is measured by the Gini Ratio, which
is currently reaching a level of 0.375, which is lower than South Sulawesi Province,
which is at 0.389. The average economic growth in 2016-2020 reached 5.83 per cent,
which is higher than the growth reached by the Province of South Sulawesi during the
same period, which was 5.58 per cent. This disparity between the Gini Ratio and
economic growth demonstrates that the income level between the wealthy and the
impoverished tends to be balanced. This ensures that, over time, it does not produce
problems of social effect that can provoke instability. According to these social and
