INTRODUCTORY PARAGRAPH
One of cultures conducted in wedding ceremonies in Lombok is Begawe. The

Begawe is like a celebration or party. The Begawe is divided into two ways which are
Begawe Beleq (big celebration) and Begawe Kodeq (small celebration).

DESCRIPTION PARAGRAPH
First, the begawe beleq is attended by many people coming from other villages
to celebrate it. It is celebrated during two-three days and nights. They can eat and

drink much food providing by host. People also can bring food provided to their
home. Second, the begawe kodeq is attended by only their relatives and it is celebrated

only one day.
In the subsequent activity, students then develop the clues into a complete

paragraph of descriptive texts. This design facilitates students to write parts of
descriptive paragraphs to be finally organized into a complete descriptive

paragraph. The same technique is used for recount, exposition, and narrative texts.

The contents are suited to the generic structure of the text. For example, for the
recount text, the parts are orientation, events, and re-orientation.

Another technique in giving input materials is done by the jumbled-

sentence exercises. In this technique, students are given jumbled-sentences to be
rearranged into a good paragraph. There are two kinds of jumble materials, one is

related to the sentence level and the other is related to the paragraph level. The
jumble technique is used in all four units. Below is an example of a jumble

exercise in Unit 1.
