Dear Mr. Bloomberg:

I am writing to thank you, Mr. Mike Bloomberg, and Bloomberg Philanthropies for the scholarship
that you are providing to me and my classmates. This scholarship will give me the necessary funds
so I can focus on my studies. I am very grateful for being a recipient of this scholarship because it
has also alleviated a huge burden from my parents and family in regard to helping me pay for
medical school.

I am a second-year medical student that is a member of the Class of 2023 at Morehouse School of
Medicine. Being an Atlanta native and growing up in a single parent, low-income household with an
immigrant background, I vividly remember visiting free clinics and hospitals such as Grady
Memorial Hospital with my family to receive health care. I also recall the long wait times due to the
facilities being understaffed with physicians. It was this, along with several other events in my life,
that served as a compass in my pursuit of science and steered me in the direction of pursuing a
medical degree.

Before attending medical school, I completed my undergraduate education at Emory University and
obtained a BS in Chemistry. Currently, as a second-year student, I devote time once or twice a
month to engaging with refugee clinics such as the Grace Village Medical Clinic in Clarkston, GA,
the LionHouse Eye Clinic, and the Morehouse School of Medicine H.E.AL. Clinic. After
completing my undergraduate education in medicine, I am committed to pursuing a career in
Emergency Medicine and working in an urban hospital setting as well as serving in medical missions
abroad.

I wish to be a servant and advocate for the underrepresented and impoverished within my
community. I am very grateful to be attending Morehouse School of Medicine because the mission
statement resonates with my personal goals of being in the medical field. I cannot thank you enough
for providing me with this scholarship. I hope that within the next decade I will be able to
contribute financially to the success of future medical doctors in the same way you have for me!
