July 28 "Leaping, like wanton kids in pleasant spring." The
" day of the girls' G.P.S. Sports, in which Wynnum came
fourth in the aggregate number of points.
July 30 : “Full of noises,
Sounds, and sweet airs."
High School pupils were given a very interesting and
entertaining science display by representatives from
General Motors Holden.
July 31 : “They whistled and warbled a moony song
To the echoing sound of a coppery gong." E. Lear.
Some of us attended the concert given by the State
Symphony Orchestra and joined in the usual community
singing.
August 1 : "I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips."
Another fine day for our Annual Inter-House Sports.
August 2 : "Little puffs of powder, little dabs of paint—" Our
Annual Fancy Dress Ball was held at the Star Theatre.
There were many good costumes, and among the best
were a group of second form girls representing the
current Hit Parade.
August 3 : "O waly, waly, waly, down the brae."—Anon.
Another strenuous X—Country race.
August 8 : "Dream not, with the rising sun
Bugles here shall sound reveille"
The Cadet Unit went to camp.
August 27 : Third term service at which Mr. Nommensen ad
dressed us.
August 29 : The boys' Inter-House Tennis started.
September 4 : "Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard
are sweeter." J. Keats.
High School Girls' Choir practising in real earnest (real
Elvis?)
September 5: Commencement of Inter-House Cricket (High
School).
September 4 and 6 : I'll tell thee everything I can;
There's little to relate." L. Carrol.
The second formers went to see the State Parliament in
Session.
September 7 : Wynnum District Primary School Sports Day.
September 21: Start of Inter-House Cricket. (Intermediate
School).
