                                 CRUSADER
What is a Crusader ? First and foremost a Crusader is a soldier
of the Lord Jesus Christ not a ‘‘Chocolate Soldier,” but a real soldier.
This year both the girls’ and boys’ Crusader meetings have been
held in the school each week. The girls’ meeting has been divided into
two groups with the Intermediate girls meeting on Monday at lunch
time in room 9 and the High School girls on Tuesday at lunch time in
room 2. The number of Crusaders amongst the boys is small at present
—shame, that girls should make better soldiers than boys !
The boys’ meetings have included the life story of a true soldier of
Jesus Christ—Hudson Taylor, founder of the China Inland Mission. A
short talk has also been given on the Bible text.
The girls’ meetings have included the singing of bright but helpful
choruses and a short talk on a passage of Scripture.
This year we have been very fortunate in having visiting speakers
who had some very interesting news for us. Mr. Drysdale of the
Unevangilised Fields’ Mission, Mr. Geoffrey Bull, who told us how his
faith helped him to triumph over the tortures and trials in a Communist
prison camp in China, and Miss Turner, of the British Syrian-Lebaneese
Mission, have all contributed to the interest of the meetings.
These meetings have been made possible only by the kindness of
both Mr. Hayes and Miss McConaghie, who come each week to lead
them. In conjunction with the school meetings, drawing-room meetings
are held in the district and all are invited to attend. The girls’ meeting
is held at the home of Mrs. Wright, 99 Cedar Street, Wynnum Centra),
and the boys is held at the home of Mrs. Pigram, 132 Ernest Street,
          Manly.
