8st. TEAM.
This team, led by Ken Beutel, had a very good season and finished
second in the metropolitan premiership. Ken Beutel was the principal
points scorer with 52 points, followed by Barry Cook with 15 points. J.
Kennedy was selected in the “Rest” Team, which played the selected
Queensland Team to tour New South Wales. Team record : Won 7,
lost 5. Points : For 88, against 72.
7st. TEAM.
This team, led by K. Walsh, played excellent football throughout
the season to finish level on points with Camp Hill for Zone Premiership
Honours. In the play-off they were defeated narrowly by Camp Hill.
Keith Walsh was the principal points-scorer with 30 points, followed
closely by Walter Zolte with 27 points. No fewer than eleven members
of this team scored points during the season. Harry Lamb played for
the “Rest” against the touring Queensland team and Stan Webber
represented Brisbane against Toowoomba.
Team record : Won 9, lost 3. Points : For 130, against 35.
7st TEAM.
This team, led by Trevor Mischlewski, had a very successful season.
They won the Zone Premiership with an unbeaten record but were
defeated narrowly by Ithaca in the second semi-final of the Metropolitan
Premiership.
Trevor Mischlewski was the principal points-scorer with 71 points,
followed by K. McKelvie, and both were selected in the Queensland State
team which played against New South Wales in Brisbane. Alan Thurlow
represented Brisbane against New South Wales, Toowoomba and
Ipswich. Trevor Mischlewski represented Brisbane against Toowoomba
and Ipswich, and Ken McKelvie represented Brisbane aganist Too
woomba, Ipswich, South Coast, Mackay, Gladstone and Rockhampton.
Team record : Won 12, lost 1. Points : For 188, against 27.
5st. 71b. TEAM.
This team, led by Ken Gallimore had a very successful season. They
won the Zone Premiership with an unbeaten record. They defeated
Cavendish Road in the first semi-final of the Metropolitan Premiership,
but were narrowly defeated by Kelvin Grove in the second semi-final.
Alan Apps was the principal points-scorer with 85 points, followed by
B. Scott with 30. No fewer than ten members of this team scored
points. Ron McNeilly represented Brisbane against New South Wales.
Toowoomba, South Coast, Mackay, Gladstone and Rockhampton, and N.
Morton and W. Steeles represented Brisbane against Toowoomba.
Team record: Won 12, lost 1. Points : For 182, against 25.
DENT CUP.
This year the school was successful in winning the Dent Cup for
the first time. The Dent Cup is presented annually to the school which
gains the highest number of competition points during the season in
the metropolitan area and this year that high honour comes to the
Wynnum Intermediate School.
