teams should be of great benefit to them for next year, and we look forward
to greater successes in next season’s matches.
In addition to inter-school tennis, approximately 80 boys play on local
courts as part of their regular Wednesday afternoon school sport. We would
like to express our thanks to Messrs. Penrose, Vines, Leeder, Myatt, Blaney,
Cory, Seed, and the Head Teacher of Wynnum North School, for making
courts available to us for these boys.
Good year for Girls’ Tennis
Although we were unable to secure any pennants in this year's “Q.S.S.S.S.A.”
tennis fixtures, the members of the three teams acquitted themselves well against
the opposing teams.
The A team was composed of G. Thompson, E. Milkins, R. McKelvie, and
B. Gunderson. M. Atkins, P. Hargreaves, L. Robertson, J. Young, C. Apps,
M. Jordana, S. Curry, V. Cutlack, and D. Edwards were the girls who formed
the B and C teams.
The teams competed in the G.P.S. fixtures on Saturdays and enjoyed enter
taining visiting schools and being entertained by them. We should like to thank
those girls who stood in when team members could not play, and also those
who prepared morning tea for the players.
Kennedy House again won the Inter-House Tennis Competition without
losing a match, repeating last year’s performance.
The team members would like to offer their special thanks to Miss Lenihan
who encouraged us so much by her interest and help. Miss Cafferky and Mrs.
Taege also assisted Miss Lenihan by travelling to the different schools with theteams.
