IFOURTH FORMERS SEE JULIUS CAESAR
Some days ago the students of Fourth Form had the pleasure of seeing the
film of Shakespeare’s play, “Julius Caesar”. To most, it was quite helpful to
their imaginations of the main characters in the play. Possibly James Mason as
“Brutus” was one of the best portrayals in the film but to those who may be
influenced by film star “Fan Clubs”, Marlon Brando as “Mark Antony” may
have appealed more than others. Some of the scenes in the actual production
were rather inaccurate, as, for example, the final scenes on the battlefield.
However, one must realize the great cost of sets put into the filming. By far
the most exciting and revealing scene was that of the assassination. On the
whole the film may have tended to change one’s impressions thus putting the
original handiwork of Shakespeare in a new light.
