KENNEDY
HOUSE MASTER: Mr. Miles, and later Mr. Whybird.
           HOUSE MISTRESS: Mrs. Sibley.
HOUSE CAPTAINS: Ingrid Woelke, Bradley Bishop.
HOUSE VICE-CAPTAINS: Julie McClure, Alan James.
ONE-STAR CAPTAINS: Heather Hislop, Maurice Turner.
           HOUSE WAR-CRY :         Kennedy, Kennedy, Flag of Gold;
                                   Warriors, Warriors. Brave and Bold.
We will Strive but never Fall,
                                Might and Glory over all.
                                K-E-N-N-E-D-Y,
                                Kennedy!
This year Kennedy has done considerably better in comparison with our
efforts in previous years. Although we did not carry off any major sporting
events, much talent has been found among the younger members of the house,
and this augurs well for the future.
Kennedy has always had a shortage of good swimmers, and this year was
no great exception. Kennedy ultimately gained third place in the Inter-House
Swimming Carnival and it was the girls who attained second place in their
division who made this possible. The girls' swimming displayed an improve
ment in strength, speed and stamina, and outstanding competitors were : Y. Sykes,
        C. Williams, J. Castner and J. Johnston. B. Bishop was our best boys' swimmer
and swam particularly well against strong opposition in the open events, breaking
        his open backstroke record.
Thanks to the work and encouragement of the leaders, Kennedy House
spirit was at a maximum level and put to good stead at the Athletics Carnival.
Mrs. Sibley and Mrs. Albin had the girls at their peak ih both ball games and
in the running events. This resulted in a first place for the girls' athletics
division. The boys, unfortunately, did not do quite as well, and, having gained
only third place in their division, ranked Kennedy in an overall second place.
Outstanding girl runners were : B. Randall. A. Morphew and S. Entrop, while
        C. Williams and J. Hodgins showed their skills in the field events.
Kennedy received a pleasant surprise, and so did Neville Weatherhead.
when his hidden talent won him the Under 16 Championship. Other boys who
are worthy of mention for their fine efforts are : R. Scott. M. Turner, T. Endean,
        P. Sommer and R. Fletcher.
In the Inter-School sporting activities. Kennedy had more than its share of
representatives with fine sportsmen, such as: A. James (basketball), T. Dunn
(soccer). I. Yeo (Rugby), M. Turner (Rugby); and fine sportswomen, such as:
Ingrid Woelke (hockey and vigoro), Cecily Williams (hockey and vigoro), and
        Yolanda Sykes (basketball).
Many Kennedy girls were selected to participate in the G.P.S. Sports. Both
girls and boys alike have gained a good many points with their academic
studies (special mention going to Greg Bews).
The members of Kennedy House would like to congratulate the other
Houses on their various successes, especially Cunningham with its top points
        scorer, Chris Hubbert.
Finally, we would like to thank our House Mistress and former House
Master. Mr. Miles, for the splendid efforts they have put forward in making
Kennedy a House to be proud of. We would also like to extend our welcome
to our new leader. Mr. Whybird. and wish him much success in future years.
