VIGORO
A GRADE
(Zone Runners-up)
While we may not have been quite the most experienced
vigoro team that
Wynnum has produced, we were undoubtedly the keenest. Every
Tuesday after
noon — without fail — between 3.10 and 3.15 p.m., we would
practise
exhaustingly (trying to put the wickets up). During the season there were several
minor mishaps, e.g., Wynnum’s vicious bowler. Ingrid W., successfully disabled
an entire opposing team. Our team (Ingrid W., Faye B., Denise L. (captain),
Eileen L., Colleen W.. Judith T., Nan F.. Gillian M., Cecily W., Cheryl S.,
Annette T., Joy B.) earned decided recognition amongst the opposition for
charm, intelligence and good looks — but our ability to play vigoro ? Thank you,
Miss Bunn, for your valiant attempts to produce and train the 1969 Vigoro
“A” and “B”.
B GRADE
(Reached Semi-Finals)
It was just as well that, for its first match. Vigoro B had a bye, for it was
on that afternoon that bowlers were chosen, fielders placed, and general hints
given to batters (which side of the bat to use). However, the interest and out
standing ability of some players enabled the Vigoro “B” to reach the Semi-Finals.
Special mention to our bowlers. Helen E. and Deborah R.; to wicketkeeper
Beverly P.; and to Marian L. The other members of the team were Elspeth B.
(captain). Belinda S., Sandra R., Melita U., Megan B., Glenda H., Glenda D.,
Joanne W. and Jan. M.
