BOYS' TENNIS
(High Standard)
The “A" Team was represented by
Gary Carter, Roscoe Foreman, Alan
James and Bradley Bishop, while Ross
Windle, Laurie Patterson. Greg Bews.
Greg Hall and Ian Jefferies constituted the
“B" Team. Both teams had depth.
and all players played a consistently high
standard. The “A” Team reached
the semi-finals, but were unlucky to draw the strong Wynnum North and were
beaten by ten games. The “B” Team went down by only one game in the final.
so were very close to being zone premiers.
I would like to take this opportunity, on behalf of the team, to thank
Mr. Miles and Mr. Mahoney for the support they gave the teams and for the
transport they provided to all schools.
GIRLS' TENNIS
Q.S.S.S.S.A.
(Went Down Fighting)
The season got off to a rather damp start, with the
result that two matches
could not be played. Perhaps we might have reached the semi-finals if these
had been played, as our “A” Team was fifth at the end of the competition.
However, both teams acquitted themselves quite creditably, and. even in the
matches which were lost, we went down fighting.
In the “A” Team were: Colleen Wiseman. Denise Lawrence. Eileen
La Burniy and Megan Bunn, while Beverley Trelour. Judith Thornton, Susan
McQueen. Janette McCrae and Faye Bodger made up the “B” Team.
A very special vote of thanks goes to Pam Andrews, who served us faith
fully as scorer for every match.

(Keen Spirit)
Although we did not win many matches this year, one could not help but
notice the keen spirit of those who participated and the enjoyment that was
derived by players from the pleasant Saturday's tennis. Many thanks to
Elspeth Blair, who. although not directly interested, gave up much of her own
time to help with refreshments when teams visited the school.
We would like to thank also Moreton Bay College. Manly Church of
England, and Mr. Keegan for making their courts available.
