MORETON BAY AMATEUR SWIMMING CLUB
INTER-SCHOOL CARNIVAL
(Double Victory)
At the Annual Swimming Carnival conducted by the Moreton Bay Swimming
Club for Primary and High Schools in the area, Wynnum excelled itself by
winning not only the Girls’ High School trophy but the Boys’ also. There were
several schools competing for the Girls' trophy, and these were Moreton Bay
College, Mt. Carmel College, Wynnum North High School, and Wynnum High
School. The schools competing for the Boys' trophy were Iona College, Wynnum
North High, and Wynnum High. The competition was keen and many swimmers,
both boys and girls, gave outstanding performances. Special mention goes to
Denise Scarborough, Nan Fraser, Gwen Smith, Ean Roff, David Bromet.
Brian Weis, and Peter Lamond in the Boys. Congratulations to all who partici
pated and special thanks to Mr. Horwood for his help with the coaching and
organisation of our team.
It was pleasing to see our Principal and School Captains among the large
number of Wynnum High supporters.
We wish to thank the Moreton Bay Amateur Swimming Club for organising
this Carnival, thus enabling district swimmers to compete against each other and
so show their merit.

LIFESAVING
(Pennant for outstanding performance)
On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon this year, all swimming enthusiasts
took up lifesaving under the careful supervision of Mr. Horwood and Mr. Sommer
for the boys on Wednesdays, with Mr. Whybird. and Mr. Moran on Tuesday;
and for the girls. Miss Marshall on both both Tuesday and Wednesday. We
especially wish to thank these teachers for devoting their time and effort towards
the training, which eventually gave us our successes. After many tiring after
noons. the efforts of both the boys and the girls were also rewarded when the
following results of the exams, were announced :—
