The B team (Noel and Neil Sims, R. Highet, J. Myatt, C. Beard and
          W. Mason) were playing competitive inter-school tennis for the first time and
should have benefited considerably from the experience.
In an effort to build up the strength of our teams for next year, twenty-eight
boys and girls are receiving regular coaching from local coach, Mr. L. Ridgway,
and most of these are already showing considerable improvement in their play.
The inter-house boys' tennis this year was keenly contested, final victory
          going to Oxley House.
In addition to inter-school and inter-house tennis, about seventy boys played
tennis each Wednesday as part of their regular school sport. This entailed the
use of a number of privately-owned courts, and the school wishes to express its
thanks to Messrs. Penrose, Leeder, Cory, Myatt, Blaney, Vines, and the head
teachers of Wynnum North and Wynnum West schools, for making their courts
          available to the boys.

The winner of the school championship was Geoff Blakey, who defeated
Lyle Randall in a hard fought three set match.
