GIRLS GOLF TEAM

Metropolitan Premiers

This year the girls have been very fortunate in producing a number of very
fine golfers. For the first time inter-school competition for girls was conducted
by the State Secondary Schools Golf Association. As the competition progressed,
our girls gained more skill and confidence. After a number of very convincing
wins in the preliminary competitions, the girls took the honours for the South
Zone by defeating Cavendish Road. They then went on to win the finals at
Royal Queensland by defeating the North Zone premiers — Sanyo. Team mem
bers included : Glenys Sands, Brenda Rayner, Lynette Murray (captain), Rhonda
Williams, Estelle Watson and Janice Robertson.

The winner of the School Championship was Brenda Rayner, who defeated
Glenys Sands in a very close match.
Our congratulations are extended to these girls on a splendid performance,
and thanks must also go to the coach, professional Mr. Paul King, to Miss Curtis,
to Mr. Schuntner, and to the Wynnum Golf Club officials.
