that sparks from static electricity can ignite
flammable vapours, gases and dusts. The
hazard can be prevented by grounding,
bonding and humidification.
(xv)Lightning - These are fires originating from
direct lightning strike and sparks from one object
to another induced by lightning strike. These may
be prevented by installing lightning rods, arrestors
and grounding.
Q2. What do you understand by contributory
hazards?
Ans. Contributory hazards are those hazards that increase
the probability of a fire occurring or which enable or
permit fires to spread and increase the loss.
(a) Some of the examples are, fire due to constructional
hazards,
(b) Fire due to exposure to other buildings in hazardous
occupation, location in conflagration area etc
(c) Absence of people to raise the alarm and
(d) Locked or inaccessible premises or isolated
