3. Qualities of a good counsellor





        A good counsellor should be non-judgmental. He should be willing to accept


        the fact that, given help and encouragement, most people have the inherent



        capacity to understand and solve their own problems. Such a counsellor would



        convey to the client his genuineness, understanding and acceptance of the



        client as a unique individual.










            C. Appraisals



            1. Performance factors: Skill, Will and Support





        Appraisal or evaluation of performance is part of the development process.



        performance of an individual is the resultant of :




                 I.  his skill or ability to do



                 II.  his willingness or motivation to do



                III.  the support he gets from the organisation







            2. Annual appraisals





        Traditionally, and even now in many organisations, an appraisal is an annual


        exercise, used to make decisions on the grant of increments and to determine
